Java is a programming language derives much of its syntax from C and C#, C++. It is developed by Sun Microsystems in 1995. As a core component of java Microsystems, it is typically compiled to bytecode that runs on java virtual machine.

Primitive facts of JAVA
“JAMES GOSLING” created Java language in June 1991 for his own use in project set top box. The language was initially called “OAK”. He named it as he had an oak tree that stood outside his office- later he named it “GREEN” and at last he named it as “JAVA”. Gosling wanted to implement a language that has a familiarity with C/C++ style of notion and a virtual machine.
As time changed, JAVA changed accordingly.
Version J2EE was for enterprise applications
Version J2ME was for mobile applications.
Version J2SE was the designation for the Standard Edition.
Version J2 versions were renamed Java EE, Java ME, and Java SE for marketing purpose.
Sun Microsystems released Java (open source software) under the terms of GNU as free on 13th of November 2006. At last, Sun free JAVA, did not hold any copyright to company and this step made JAVA core-code free, and recognized it as an open source on 8 May 2007.
